Arctic Bay

Street Fighter X Tekken (pronouced Street Fighter Cross Tekken) is an upcoming crossover fighting game being developed by Capcom. The game was announced at the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con by Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono. The game is set to release for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles.

The game will feature characters from both the Street Fighter and Tekken series. As the game is being made by Capcom, with Namco being involved more in the licensing of the Tekken cast, the gameplay will be based on the mechanics of Street Fighter IV as opposed to Tekken. The demo shown at the San Diego Comic-Con showed characters Ryu and Kazuya Mishima fighting each other, being tagged by Street Fighter's Chun-Li and Tekken's Nina Williams. The characters were shown performing super combos that combined their partners attacks.[1]

During the announcement, Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada also revealed that he has a related project under way, which is being developed by Namco.[2] As Harada's variant of the crossover will be produced by Namco, most likely the gameplay mechanics will be similar to that of Tekken 6 (and perhaps Tekken Tag Tournament, due to the tagging function present in Capcom's version).

This is not the first time Namco and Capcom have made a game together as they released a Japan only crossover game in 2005 for the PlayStation 2 titled Namco × Capcom. However, this game does not exlusively consist of characters from the Street Fighter universe and Tekken universe but instead included various characters from the entire Capcom universe and entire Namco universe. Namco × Capcom was a role-playing game making Tekken X Street Fighter and Street Fighter X Tekken the first games in the fighting game genre to be made by Namco and Capcom.
